The late Hiudaí McFadden
Deeply regretted is the sudden death of Hiudaí McFadden which occurred at his home in Cnoc Fola on Sunday week last. Hiudaí, who was affectionately better known locally as Hiudaí Néill, was aged 79 years. Predeceased by his wife, he was known as a friendly and kind individual and he will be sadly missed.
He was waked in the family home and there was a large turn out of mourners to his home which clearly reflected the high esteem in which the deceased and his family are held. His funeral mass was celebrated in St. Colmcille Church, Cnoc Fola and afterwards he was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.
He is survived by three sons, Paul [who is living in the family home], Hiudaí living in Bunaniver and Neily in Glasgow, two daughters, Sarah in Derry and Maureen living in the United States, family circle, relatives and friends, to all of whom deep sympathy is extended.

Children from the tender age of three up to teenage years have been busy preparing their dance routines and acting since November. The show is a display of ballet, modern and tap dance styles and this year hip hop has been introduced which has encouraged boys to join the cast.
The Forrestal School of Dance has been running classes successfully in Gaoth Dobhair and the Rosses for the past eleven years. Deirdre Forristal, the principal, who will also be performing in the show, noted that “tthe enthusiasm and dedication of the students is just fantastic and we are all very excited about performing in An Grianán.” The Lion King will run in An Grianán Theatre on Saturday 21st April, at 7p.m. and Sunday 22nd April at 1p.m. and 7p.m. Tickets available at the Theatre Box Office on 074 9120777.

Coiste Forbartha Chnoc Fola
An attempt is to be made to re-form Coiste Forbartha Chnoc Fola. A meeting was scheduled to be held on Good Friday but this meeting was cancelled and will now take place in the local Ionad Pobail on Monday April 16th at 7.00p.m. People living in the following town lands are urged to attend this very important meeting: Meenacladdy, Curransport, Glasserchoo, Cnoc Fola, Brinaleck, Glassagh, Bunaninver and Carrick.
There has been no Coiste Forbartha [Development Committee] in the Cnoc Fola district during the last twelve years. John Shéamuis Ó Fearraigh of Bun an Leaca, a well known community activist and who was involved in the last Coiste Forbartha said it is very important that a new committee is set up to cater for the well fare of the area.
He said there was always a strong and hard working Coiste Forbartha serving the Cnoc Fola district but sadly it ceased operating twelve years ago. He outlined a number of important projects the committee successfully brought to fruition including, a new community centre which opened in 1985, the refurbishment and opening of the traditional cottage, Teach Mhuiris in Brinaleck, the establishment of an annual traditional festival, Féile Chnoc Fola based on the old life style of the district, and other work around the vicinity of the local St. Colmcille Church.
He said many schemes under the auspice of Social Employment Schemes could be initiated to benefit the area. He said a Coiste Forbartha in the district would also be beneficial to promote language and cultural activities in the district.
He urged local people to turn out in force to the meeting on Monday evening. He said it is imperative that a new Coiste Forbartha is elected as soon as possible.
